My tutor at Norwich City College pointed out a good course at home in Norfolk, the Design Crafts BA (Hons) degree at Lowestoft college. Here I was introduced to woodwork metal work and ceramics as well as continuing with textiles. When I had a go on a potters wheel, I was hooked. I decided to specialise in ceramics and was taught by Pat Southwood and Stephen Baker. They helped me to find and develop my style.
I now make both functional and sculptural pieces while trying to develop my work further.
I enjoy making shapes with crisp lines and fine rims, proportionate curves and slight angles. I use a range of glazes but my favourites at the moment are satin glazes because they are safe to use for domestic ware but do not have too much gloss in them so the form can be seen more easily without a reflection distorting them.
Spiritual Ceramics is a sub-company of Kate Fisher Ceramics.
Spiritually I have been working since I was 17 years old. I meditated and tried some astral projection.
I have sat in a few different spiritual groups, but the ones that have made the most impact on me was the one led by Christine Stone, an amazing medium and now a singer. Also the most recent with Dawn Crystal yet another amazing medium and both very inspirational ladies.
I have a deep connection with the Earth element and believe that is why I was led to become a potter. I have a great interest in Magical herbalism as it is one of the oldest uses recorded in human history. I have recieved a level 1 reiki attunement and have developed my mediumship skills since sitting in my first group in 2005. Yet another thing I believe has added to my spiritual development is an introduction course to Non-violent or compassionate communication, for more information about this
